Health and Safety Authority
The Health & Safety Authority has overall responsibility for the administration and enforcement of health and safety at work in Ireland.
The HSA
·monitors compliance with legislation at the workplace and can take enforcement action (including prosecutions)
·is an expert centre for information and advice to employers, employees and self-employed
·promotes education, training and research.
Our aim is to provide a framework to make work safe.Health should not be affected by work immediately, or in the long term, nor should a worker's offspring be affected.
At the end of a working day a person should be able to enjoy a full, active, social and family life. The health and safety of people at work, and of the public affected by work activities, is protected by law.
Since its inception, the Health and Safety Authority has adopted a consistent policy of identifying key issues and developing initiatives to address areas of concern. It has a highly-skilled professional staff and is active over every area of workplace health and safety.
The Authority places great emphasis on, and allocates resources to, delivering an appropriate expert response to all occupational safety and health enquiries.
